Can he finish high school? What will the trade skills program do to help him learn the skills to succeed when he leaves?

If the young man has not completed high school, we will work with him to get the credits he needs to complete his high school education and get his diploma. Parents must cover the cost of his curriculum and credits. All other educational materials that are part of our virtue/character formation and are included in the enrollment costs.

Skills he will learn are:

We offer a wide variety of job skills at our Christian trade school program as well as the relationship skills needed to be successful in the workplace. If the young man completes the recommended programs he should have the work ethic and skills needed to succeed.

Can he earn any money?

After completing the initial 120 program a young man can earn $25 a week and up to $75 a week depending on his overall weekly score on his passport to manhood evaluation. He must earn an 8.5 or above on his passport to earn money for that week. If he breaks the rules of the program, he may have part or all of his banked income taken away to make restitution for his actions.
The money he earns will be in the form of a weekly stipend that is “banked” until he is ready to leave the program. Some of his “banked” money can be used for outings such as going to a movie, eating at restaurants, or going skiing. (Note: Students who are on reduced tuition do not get participate in this “earning” program)

What are they doing each day in your Christian vocational trade school program?

Where will he be staying?

Rustic frontier cabin style facilities.

What is the length of the average stay?

We have found that 8-12 months stay in our Christian trade school is much more effective and gives longer lasting career training.

What should he bring with him?

Two packages of over the calf socks, regular plain tee shirts (with short sleeves, not sleeveless with no print or anything on them) and brief underwear (not boxer-shorts, they do not give the support needed for men during ranch activities), gym shorts, and tennis or gym shoes, swim trunks (not brief type) plain hooded sweatshirt, canvas Carhartt style winter work coat, hat, and gloves. Wrangler cowboy bootcut jeans at least 5-7 pairs, Western-style snappy shirts 5-7, Cowboy boots the pull on type with riding heal, sturdy work-boots and dress pants for mass and going to town in. All other equipment will be issued once he arrives here.

Will my son attend Church services?

Yes. All the young men at Beartooth Mountain Ascent attend the weekly Catholic Mass at Our Lady of The Valley Parish, a few miles from the ranch. We all attend as a family community. If your son is not Catholic he will still attend mass so as to grow spiritually from the reading of scripture and the words of encouragement from the priest.
